Polar vs Stripe for AI agents

As of 12 Oct 2026, Stripe gets an AI agent further: L3 · Does the work against L1 · Needs a person.

PolarL1Needs a person
  • Find: Docs for agents: llms.txt, an OpenAPI and an MCP server.
  • Access: Can't sign up.
  • Use: Work not reached.
  • Pay: Payment not reached.
  • Leave: Leaving not reached.

Stopped at sign up: needs a human. Next: let an agent sign up on its own

Needs a person before it does anything: L1 · Needs a person. Our agent stopped at signup: email sign-in on /auth shows a Cloudflare Turnstile widget, and it answered "Verification failed. Please try again." to our agent's browser. Other routes are Google, Apple or GitHub OAuth; none lets an API or CLI create an account. Dynamic client registration works headless, but authorizing still routes through that same Turnstile sign-in, so no token, no first call, no work done. Docs are agent-ready: llms.txt, Markdown pages, OpenAPI, a CLI, an OAuth MCP server. Paying and leaving stay untested: plan switches sit behind that same human sign-in, and the API has no operation to delete an account.

  • Find: Docs for agents: llms.txt, an OpenAPI and an MCP server.
  • Access: Key by API.
  • Use: 67% of the work.
  • Pay: Reaches the checkout: An agent payment on its API, none made yet.
  • Leave: Leaves on its own: Nothing to cancel, what it made goes after 7 days.

In on its own; 67% of the work done. Next: do 80% of the core work (now 67%)

Gets in on its own through the CLI sandbox, no sign-up needed: L3 · Does the work. A working test key, a public key and a claim link arrived from one command, and that key passed the first call and the first action. It drove payments, Checkout, Elements, subscriptions, invoices, coupons, refunds, webhooks and the official MCP server headless. Claiming the sandbox into a full Dashboard account stopped at an hCaptcha puzzle after Create account, so metering, Connect, Terminal and every Dashboard feature stayed out of reach. Stripe charges per use with nothing to buy upfront; going live needs that same blocked sign-up. Cleanup removed the test data, but the sandbox account itself could not be deleted.

A check of our network and browser: It judged where our agent connects from and its browser, not a person. An agent that works on its own from a data center doesn't get through unless the owner lets signed agents in. How agents in a person's own browser fare isn't measured yet. A challenge on the form: It asks every visitor to prove they are human. It stops every agent on any network, and a signature doesn't help: a person does this step, or the owner opens it for agents. Where we drive from.
