# Typeform: L1 · Needs a person

As of 6 Oct 2026, an AI agent can't use Typeform on its own: Sign-up denied by registration hook, no reason.

A person has to set this up: L1 · Needs a person. Our agent stopped at signup, not at a visible challenge. The Okta form carries an invisible reCAPTCHA. Typeform's own registration hook denied the attempt with "Registration denied," and the app showed a misleading message suggesting an account already existed. Docs, the REST API and the official MCP server are all well documented and reachable without a browser. With no account there was no token, so no form, response or analytics work could be driven. Paying, cancelling and deleting an account were all out of reach for the same reason.

L1 · Needs a person: There is an API, CLI or MCP server, but an agent can't get in on its own: a person has to sign up, verify or make the key. What it does once a person sets it up shows next to the level.

- Find: Some docs for agents (llms.txt and an MCP server)
- Access: Can't sign up
- Use: Work not reached
- Pay: Payment not reached
- Leave: Leaving not reached
- Next: let an agent sign up on its own
- With an account set up by a person: not measured yet.

## Level history

- 1 Oct 2026 (2 drives): L1 · Needs a person
- 6 Oct 2026: L1 · Needs a person

## Part scores

- Agent-ready setup: llms.txt found, OpenAPI not found, MCP server found, CLI not found
- Not measured in this drive: Holds up, Docs match

## Who gets in

- Agents on a server: Turned away when they send the sign-up form.
- Signed agents: The sign-up page opens. The check on the form still applies.
- Agents in a person's browser: Not measured yet.

Sign-up page checked 13 Oct 2026. Signed agents: the ones Cloudflare verifies.

## Checkpoints

- **Docs**: Headless: Developer docs at www.typeform.com/developers/ (Create, Responses, Webhooks, Embed APIs; MCP server docs with ~66 tools) fetched headless. llms.txt at www.typeform.com/llms.txt covers marketing pages only. No OpenAPI found, no markdown negotiation.
- **Sign up**: Blocked: Web form only (Okta widget with invisible reCAPTCHA, no visible challenge). Submitting in our agent's browser got 400 E0000135 'Registration denied' from Typeform's registration inline hook; the UI said 'Something went wrong. You might already have an account'. No reason given.
- **Verify**: Not reached: No account was created; no mail arrived.
- **Key**: Not reached: Personal access tokens are made in the web account; OAuth client registration (DCR and CIMD) works headless, but the token needs a logged-in user's consent at admin.typeform.com/oauth/authorize. No device flow.
- **First call**: Not reached: Every API and MCP call needs a token (401 AUTHENTICATION_FAILED / 401 Bearer resource_metadata).
- **First action**: Not reached: No account.
- **Pay**: Not reached: No agent payment rail: no 402 on the API, x402./mpp./agents. subdomains redirect to typeform.com, /.well-known/ucp 403, not in the MPP registry or the x402 Bazaar. Paid plans (Basic 39 USD/mo, Plus 79, Business 129) are bought inside the web app after sign-up; checkout not reached because sign-up was denied.
- **Cancel**: Not reached: No plan started (no account).
- **Delete**: Not reached: No account was created, nothing to delete. One OAuth client was registered via DCR; there is no documented route to delete it.

## Does Typeform have an MCP server, and can an agent connect to it?

Yes. Typeform has an official MCP server. The server lists 66 tools and signs an agent in with OAuth.

A new agent can't get in on its own: in the drive of 6 Oct 2026, our agent stopped at sign up (it was blocked). Through the MCP server, 0 of our agent's 1 attempt worked.

## How does an AI agent get a Typeform API key?

Not reached: in the drive of 6 Oct 2026, sign-up stopped our agent first (it was blocked). Personal access tokens are made in the web account; OAuth client registration (DCR and CIMD) works headless, but the token needs a logged-in user's consent at admin.typeform.com/oauth/authorize. No device flow.

## Paying the agent way

Payment not reached.

It has a free plan.

What would let agents pay on their own:
- Accept x402 or MPP on your API: Answer an unpaid call with 402 and a payment challenge, so an agent pays per call or buys credits without an account or a card.
- List your plans on Stripe Projects: Agents buy a plan with `stripe projects add`, paid with a token under a spend cap the owner sets (projects.dev).
From the drive of 6 Oct 2026.

## What an agent can do

- Read Typeform's developer and MCP docs headless
- Register an OAuth client headless (DCR or a client metadata document) for the MCP server

## What it cannot do

- Create a Typeform account: Sign-up is a web form; our submission was denied by the registration inline hook (E0000135) with no reason given
- Get an API token or call the API/MCP server: Tokens need an account (PAT in web settings, or OAuth consent by a logged-in user)
- Any form, response or analytics capability: No account

## Tips for the owner

1. Tell denied sign-ups why they were refused
2. Let verified agents through sign-up
3. Offer a headless credential path for agents
4. Publish an OpenAPI document

## Tips for agent builders

- Typeform's MCP server is at https://api.typeform.com/mcp (Streamable HTTP only, OAuth); call accounts-list_accounts first, per the docs.
- OAuth clients can self-register (DCR or a client metadata document), but you still need a human with a Typeform account to consent or to make a personal access token.
- If sign-up shows 'You might already have an account', check the network response: E0000135 'Registration denied' is a refusal, not an existing account.
