# Wrike: L1 · Needs a person

As of 6 Oct 2026, an AI agent can't use Wrike on its own: Cloudflare challenge on the sign-up endpoint.

L1 · Needs a person: someone else has to sign up, verify and make the key before an agent can work. Our agent stopped at signup, where the registration call to reg.wrike.com hit a Cloudflare managed challenge and never cleared. No account followed, so verification, a key and every REST or MCP call stayed out of reach: both answer unauthenticated. Docs are ready for an agent to read first: llms.txt, Markdown pages, an OpenAPI catalog, an official MCP server, but none of that could be exercised. Paying and leaving stayed out of reach too: plans are bought in the app after sign-up, and deleting a free or expired account needs the web UI with a password.

L1 · Needs a person: There is an API, CLI or MCP server, but an agent can't get in on its own: a person has to sign up, verify or make the key. What it does once a person sets it up shows next to the level.

- Find: Docs for agents (llms.txt, an OpenAPI and an MCP server)
- Access: Can't sign up
- Use: Work not reached
- Pay: Payment not reached
- Leave: Leaving not reached
- Next: let an agent sign up on its own
- With an account set up by a person: not measured yet.

## Level history

- 1 Oct 2026: L1 · Needs a person
- 6 Oct 2026: L1 · Needs a person

## Part scores

- Agent-ready setup: llms.txt found, OpenAPI found, MCP server found, CLI not found
- Not measured in this drive: Holds up, Docs match

## Who gets in

- Agents on a server: Stopped before the sign-up page.
- Signed agents: Stopped by a check before the sign-up page.
- Agents in a person's browser: Not measured yet.

Sign-up page checked 13 Oct 2026. Signed agents: the ones Cloudflare verifies.

## Checkpoints

- **Docs**: Headless: developers.wrike.com/llms.txt (48 KB index), .md pages and Accept: text/markdown, /.well-known/api-catalog with OpenAPI v4 (openapi 3.0.1, 202 operations), MCP docs.
- **Sign up**: Needs a human: Web form only (/free-trial/, no sign-up API). The registration XHR to reg.wrike.com/registration.htm gets a Cloudflare managed challenge (403 cf-mitigated: challenge; top-level 'Just a moment...' did not clear).
- **Verify**: Not reached: No account; the registration request never reached Wrike, so no mail arrived.
- **Key**: Not reached: Needs an account: permanent token (Apps & Integrations > API) or a pre-registered OAuth app. AS has no DCR, CIMD or device flow.
- **First call**: Not reached: No credentials; REST and MCP both answer 401 without them.
- **First action**: Not reached: No credentials.
- **Pay**: Not reached: No agent rail: unauthenticated API calls give 401 (no 402/PAYMENT-REQUIRED/WWW-Authenticate Payment), x402./mpp./agents. subdomains do not resolve, no /.well-known/ucp, no x-payment-info, not in the MPP registry or the x402 Bazaar. No billing API. Paid plans are bought in the app after sign-up, which needs a human. Checkout not seen.
- **Cancel**: Not reached: No plan started. Help Center: paid accounts are closed through Wrike Support.
- **Delete**: Not reached: No account created. Help Center: free/expired-trial owners delete in the web UI (Settings > Delete account, password). No API operation.

## Does Wrike have an MCP server, and can an agent connect to it?

Yes. Wrike has an official MCP server. The server is hosted.

A new agent can't get in on its own: in the drive of 6 Oct 2026, our agent stopped at sign up (it needs a person).

## How does an AI agent get a Wrike API key?

Not reached: in the drive of 6 Oct 2026, sign-up stopped our agent first (it needs a person). Needs an account: permanent token (Apps & Integrations > API) or a pre-registered OAuth app. AS has no DCR, CIMD or device flow.

## Paying the agent way

Payment not reached.

No card needed to start.

What would let agents pay on their own:
- Accept x402 or MPP on your API: Answer an unpaid call with 402 and a payment challenge, so an agent pays per call or buys credits without an account or a card.
- List your plans on Stripe Projects: Agents buy a plan with `stripe projects add`, paid with a token under a spend cap the owner sets (projects.dev).
From the drive of 6 Oct 2026.

## What an agent can do

- Read all Wrike developer docs as Markdown via llms.txt and .md URLs
- Discover the OpenAPI spec through /.well-known/api-catalog
- Find the MCP server's OAuth authorization server through Protected Resource Metadata

## What it cannot do

- Sign up for a free trial: Cloudflare challenge on reg.wrike.com/registration.htm
- Get an API token or MCP access: Needs an account; no DCR, CIMD or device flow on the OAuth server
- Create or manage tasks, projects and other work: No account
- Buy a plan as an agent: No agent payment rail or billing API; purchase is in the app after a human-gated sign-up

## Tips for the owner

1. Let verified agents pass registration
2. Show the real error on challenged sign-up
3. Add a headless OAuth path for MCP
4. Point MCP 401s at resource metadata
5. Offer a billing and account API

## Tips for agent builders

- Read developers.wrike.com/llms.txt and fetch any page as .md
- OpenAPI v4 is at developers.wrike.com/openapi/wrike_api_v4_ver154.yaml (JSON)
- Expect a human for sign-up: the registration endpoint is behind a Cloudflare challenge
- With an account, a permanent access token works as Bearer for both REST (www.wrike.com/api/v4) and MCP (mcp.wrike.com/v2)
