Mixpanel vs PostHog for AI agents

As of 6 Oct 2026, Mixpanel gets an AI agent further: L3 · Does the work against L1 · Needs a person.

MixpanelL3Does the work
  • Find: Docs for agents: llms.txt, an OpenAPI and an MCP server.
  • Access: Sign-up in a browser.
  • Use: 50% of the work.
  • Pay: Reaches the checkout: Stopped at the card form.
  • Leave: Nothing to cancel: Can't delete its account.

Gets in on its own: L3 · Does the work. Sign-up is a browser form with no CAPTCHA, but the first credential, a service account, only exists in the web UI, and so does the key for the project token. From there our agent ran ingestion, raw export, feature flags, experiments, Lexicon and boards headless through the official MCP server, with each task read back. Every analysis query returned a payment-required response on the free plan, and upgrading asked for a card in a checkout form. Deleting the organization is a web button, and the confirmation mail says data clears after a wait, so our agent could not confirm the account was gone before the drive ended.

Stopped at sign up: needs a human. Next: let an agent sign up on its own

L1 · Needs a person describes PostHog today: docs are built for an agent to read, but no agent can open an account on its own. Our agent stopped at signup: the documented headless path answered 403, "Account creation is not enabled for this partner," and the web form ends in a visible Cloudflare Turnstile. With no account, the key page, the first call and any real work through the API, CLI or MCP server stayed out of reach. Paying, cancelling and deleting were never reached either, since no plan was ever started.

A check of our network and browser: It judged where our agent connects from and its browser, not a person. An agent that works on its own from a data center doesn't get through unless the owner lets signed agents in. How agents in a person's own browser fare isn't measured yet. Where we drive from.
