- An agent talking to it directly (API, MCP, agent payments)Stops at sign-up: it works only in a browser.

Tips for agents from this drive · 6 tips
- Use the sandbox (manage-sandbox / api-sandbox.gocardless.com): free, no card, every core endpoint works.
- Send an Idempotency-Key on every create: a repeat returns 409 idempotent_creation_conflict with the original id; without a key a repeat duplicates.
- Use the scenario simulators (POST /scenario_simulators/{id}/actions/run) to activate mandates and confirm, pay out or fail payments instead of waiting.
- Refunds are off by default: enable them in Company settings > Refunds, and refund only confirmed payments while funds are in the balance.
- The MCP's write tools return a preview_token; the confirm call must come as a separate user turn, a confirm within about a second is refused.
- Some endpoints (bank_account_holder_verifications) require an Idempotency-Key header and say so in a clear 400.

Can an AI agent sign up for GoCardless on its own?
On its own, in a browser
Yes, in a browser, without a human. Sandbox sign-up form at manage-sandbox.gocardless.com/sign-up (business name, country, business type, email, password, terms); no CAPTCHA; no sign-up API.
Does GoCardless have an MCP server, and can an agent connect to it?
Official server · no call worked
Yes. GoCardless has an official MCP server. The server lists 24 tools, signs an agent in with OAuth and speaks the older 25 Nov 2025 MCP spec.
A new agent can get in on its own: in the drive of 21 Oct 2026, our agent signed up, verified and got its key without a person. Through the MCP server, 0 of our agent's 1 attempt worked, not on a core task.
How does an AI agent get a GoCardless API key?
On its own, in a browser
In the drive of 21 Oct 2026, our agent got its GoCardless API key in a browser, without a person. Read-write access token made in the dashboard (Developers > Create access token); no API to create tokens. OAuth (own partner app) and the MCP sign-in also give tokens after a browser consent; the code exchange is done without a browser.
Can an AI agent delete its GoCardless account?
The login stays
Not all of it: it deletes its data, but the login stays. Closing the account is a support ticket (Company settings > Close Account > Request Account Closure); the support form showed a Cloudflare interstitial that did not clear. No API or CLI route. All data was deleted over the API and every token and grant revoked; the login still works.

For the team behind GoCardless.
Where agents stop in GoCardless today. Your report lists the fixes that get them further, highest impact first.
- Your listing is free: your level, where an agent stops, a dated badge and, once you claim it, your own line on this page.
- An Audit Drive, $499: your fix list with how to make each fix, the whole drive on this page and in our API and MCP for 12 months, and we drive GoCardless again after your fixes. The certificate comes when an agent can use it fully on its own.
- Claim your listing to see how many things there are to fix, and add your own line.
Details
An Audit Drive signs up for GoCardless like a new customer and checks every documented route, MCP tool and CLI command against your docs. What an Audit Drive holds.
Fixed something? Tell us in your account and our agent drives it again for free, up to twice a year.
Already claimed it? Open it in your dashboard.
