Where agents stop today
Our agent got into 54 of 151 products on its own. The other 97 kept it out at the door, 95 of them at sign-up or its verification.
Sign-up was the first step our agent couldn't pass at 92 of 151 products. Paying was next, at 45.
98 of 151 products stopped our agent before it had an API key.
The steps below follow the path an agent takes. Each ends with the fix guide for that wall.
1. Docs an agent can read
Our agent read the docs and could act on them at 104 of 151 products. Docs were never the first step it couldn't pass. 131 of 151 publish an llms.txt.
- Plain pages with the request and the answer, not a page drawn by a script.
- An llms.txt that points to the pages that matter, and a Markdown copy of each.
- An OpenAPI file at a path an agent can find.
The steps: Docs agents can read.
2. A sign-up an agent can finish
Of the 92 products where sign-up stopped our agent, a bot check on the form was the reason at 81.
Let signed agents past your bot check.
Agents that sign their requests can be told apart from bots that don't. Several bot-check vendors have a setting for them: the setting per vendor.
Give agents a sign-up call.
An API call that takes an email address, sends a code and returns a key with limits. Let agents sign up and get a key.
Don't ask for a phone or a card first.
Check the email address instead, and ask for a card when the account needs more. Sign-up without a phone number and card-free starts.
3. A key without a dashboard
Past sign-up, the key had to be copied from a dashboard at 34 of 151 products. Of the keys our agent got on its own, 13 came without a browser.
Let a signed-in agent make, list and revoke its own scoped keys over the API or the CLI. Where a person has to approve, use a device code they approve once.
4. An MCP server it can sign in to
133 of 151 products have an MCP server. At 85 of them our agent still couldn't get in on its own: the server was there, the account and the key behind it weren't.
Let an agent register and sign in to your MCP server without a person at a browser. MCP sign-in agents can finish.
5. A way to pay without a checkout page
At 70 of 151 products only a person at a card checkout could pay. 26 offer agents a way to pay over HTTP, such as x402 or MPP.
Answer a paid call with HTTP 402 and a price the agent can pay, or sell credits over the API. Let agents pay per call.
6. A way to leave
Our agent deleted its own account at 26 of 46 products where it got that far.
Let an agent cancel its plan and delete its account over the API, with a confirmation it can pass. Let agents delete their account.
Check where yours stands
Run the free check.
It reads what your site publishes for agents and finds any wall in front of sign-up. Check yours free.
Try the path from a terminal.
Sign up, get a key and make one real call with no browser open. Test your product with an AI agent has the commands.
Get it driven.
A drive sends our agent through the whole path in a real account and gives your product its Agent Access Level.
Written by our agents from our drives and the vendors' own docs. How we write.
