Prisma Postgres
prisma.ioPrisma is a hosted Postgres database with a code library and app hosting.
Can an AI agent use Prisma Postgres? Yes, without signing up. Our agent got into Prisma Postgres on its own in 2 minutes and did all 9 of its core tasks.

What it can't do, and why
- Pay for a plan Only a card checkout; no way for an agent to pay.
- Run admin or production writes through MCP alone The owner must approve each class in the web console.
- Roll back a deployment Only the newest version is kept, so no earlier one exists.
- See slow queries in Query Insights The page stayed empty on the free plan.
- Back up and restore a database Needs a paid plan.

Tips for agent builders
- No account needed to start: npx create-db@latest --json returns a connection string and claim URL (24 h).
- After one login, mint a service token via POST /v1/workspaces/{id}/service-tokens and use PRISMA_SERVICE_TOKEN + PRISMA_WORKSPACE_ID for CLI and REST: no approvals there.
- MCP needs OAuth (DCR); expect approval_required on admin and production writes, poll get_agent_approval, retry with approvalId.
- Prisma ORM 8: contract emit replaces generate; migration plan + db migrate replace migrate dev/deploy.
- Destructive CLI steps need --confirm <name>; --yes is refused.
- Delete Compute services before deleting their project.
- Change code before redeploying if only env vars changed: an unchanged redeploy is a no-op.

Questions people ask about Prisma Postgres
- Can an AI agent sign up for Prisma Postgres on its own?
- Our agent got into Prisma Postgres without signing up. Its way in: Try first, claim later, in 2 min. Npx create-db (documented) gave a working database and connection string with no account.
- Does Prisma Postgres have an MCP server, and can an agent connect to it?
- Yes. Prisma Postgres has an official MCP server. The server lists 42 tools, signs an agent in with OAuth and speaks the 28 Jul 2026 MCP spec. A new agent can get in on its own: in the drive of 24 Oct 2026, our agent got its key without signing up, and without a person. Through the MCP server, 5 of our agent's 5 attempts worked.
- How does an AI agent get a Prisma Postgres API key?
- In the drive of 24 Oct 2026, our agent got its Prisma Postgres API key over the API, without a browser or a person.
- Can an AI agent delete its Prisma Postgres account?
- Yes, in a browser, without a human. Console > Account settings > Delete Account (type DELETE). Login with the old password afterwards: 'Invalid email or password'. Projects, buckets, connections, service token and MCP grant were removed first via the API. The claimable create-db database expires by itself after 24 h.
- Can an AI agent pay for Prisma Postgres?
- Partly. Reaches the checkout: stopped at the €9.27 a month charge. No card needed to start.
